Why are SO many people taking facebook as the be all and end all of social relationships these days? Is it REALLY that big of a deal if someone de-friends you or doesn't write back on your wall? For fuck sake it's the internet, NOT real life. If someone's going to base the status of a friendship on what someone does or doesn't do on facebook then really, TAKE A BREAK FROM THE INTERNET AND VENTURE OUT INTO REALITY.

Since we're ragging on chains, let me just add that here I am, stuck somewhere, looking for a wireless connection, and all I can find is a Starbucks. Their wireless system completely sucks. You have to buy a card, then register that card, then add a wifi capability to that card, then log in in order to get onto the wifi. It's completely ridiculous, and the only reason they do it is to get all my personal info (I gave them a guy in the office instead). I hate it, hate it, hate it. My first experience with Starbucks is: totally sucks! What a horrible business model.

You have to stop and wonder where this money from the 9% or so increase in the power bills is going.

I have never seen 90k winds and a couple cm of snow knock out power for over 30 hours, and more in other areas. I can understand earlier in the week right after the high winds hit, yeah lose power for a while...But the outage on Christmas eve? I don't understand. In Eastern passage I was one of 18 homes without power Christmas Eve morning until Christmas day afternoon. the homes behind us had power, the people on our same street had it too. We were calling in and they said it was restored. I never saw a single truck the entire time it was out. Our community had power at about 6pm Christmas Eve, why didn't our 18 homes have it then too?

I have spent weeks without power years ago on account of a much much much more severe storm in newfoundland, that was understandable. A few snow flakes and "salt deteroiation" is a lame excuse for a poor maintance schedule.

I bet there was no executives from Nova Scotia Power without light those nights.

If we want to ensure that appointments to the Senate are without political influence, then perhaps whenever a seat is vacated, the federal government randomly selects the name of a Canadian from within its massive databanks. I am certain that they have a file on every Canadian who pays taxes, which are inturn used to pay the Senators salary. No influence, no coercion, no paybacks, no rewards, people can't complain about this region vs that region, it's a random draw open to all Canadians who are legally entitled to work and be taxed, in our great Country. You know it may even bring in extra revenue, imagine all those people who don't file tax now, but want a shot at the $130,000/year until age 75 job. Imagine that, a Senate that fairly represents us all, and makes the government money, that's what I call reform.

Ok here it is. I just moved here from Ottawa and i noticed right away the disregard pepole have for moving cars. I know some have a button and lights wich helps, but that just gives them the right to jump into the road. And for the crosswalks with no buttons or lights, would it hurt to look both ways first.
