Snow days
Why do Canadian drivers still lose their goddamn minds when it snows? Were you teleported here from Arizona? Driving 20 km/h is admittedly quite annoying, but it really points to two things: you either have no confidence in your driving skills or you don't have good tires. The road is not the place to learn how to get out of a skid, so take the car out to a large parking lot (empty, preferably snow covered) and learn how to get out of a skid, how to take a turn, how to slow and turn, etc. Getting yourself in trouble in a controlled environment is the best way to learn how to get yourself out of it. You don't want to learn how to drive, stay home.
Tires: I agree, they're not cheap. But in the long run even I (El-Cheapo!) will get them; they just plain perform better in snow. —Has fun driving in snow
