Cyclists, sidewalks, and safety.

My common sense keeps me safe when walking in crosswalks regardless if drivers are following the rules or not, but where it can't protect me, is on the sidewalk, when cyclists, skateboarders and sometimes joggers come from behind without warning as I'm walking, or cross in front of me as I'm about to board, or disembark from, a bus, without much effort to slow down or go around me...no lights, bells, or even an "excuse me," in advance. Have you seen the tiny sidewalk they've installed along Thistle Street, by the Bridge Terminal? It's one person wide. Instead of creating a wider sidewalk that people can easily share, and that can be easily plowed, the Municipality will spend a few thousand dollars each year re-sodding the damaged edges. —GH
