You stopped me and said, “Hey sexy, do you have a cigarette?” I didn't hear you say the sexy part, so I began to dig one from my backpack. As I was doing so, you said, “I love your hair,” and touched it. As I passed you the cigarette to get you to leave me alone, you then called me “sweetheart,” slowly looked me up and down, and continued on your way. Firstly, DO NOT touch my hair, unless you are given my explicit permission. Respect my personal space. What you did was creepy and demeaning. I just wanted to go for a nice walk, but instead I had yet another moment of the objectification and presumed ownership of my female body. You left me feeling small and without a voice. What upsets me the most is not even what you said, but that I have experienced this so often that it no longer shocks me. Now it’s just background noise, and that makes me feel even worse. —Disappointed yet again
