Ok, serious bitch here. In 2015, most of us get to enjoy a feb16 stat holiday, something that 6 other provinces are already doing. But guess what? This is not a federal statutory holiday, it is a valid holiday in our NS labour code, so most of us get the time off or the holiday pay and then some. Did you know that federally regulated companies like banks, airlines, and railways don't have to abide by ns labour code, so therefore they don't have to observer the holiday. My wife is clerical for one such company and she is getting shafted....because they can. I can see why they might not want to pay out provincial holidays to pilots, and maintenance staff that fly all over canada. But my wife is different. She doesn't get paid well. She lives and works in NS. Her job has never required her to set a foot outside this province. The thought that she will be denied a manditory holiday for provincially regulated business is a slap in the face. —pissed off
