Paws off Quinpool Road

I read the poster for the "Paws Here on Quinpool" campaign in disbelief: this is a terrible idea. It's bad enough to have untrained, unsocialized dogs jostling or slobbering you or crapping on the sidewalk—now we are expected to put up with this in our local businesses too? Dogs are dirty. They are all too apt to "mark their territory." They are animals with teeth and claws, and can be frighteningly territorial. (This is why I no longer go to Point Pleasant Park, which has degenerated into an anarchic dog park.) I find most owners can't or won't control their dogs. Some people are terrified of dogs, and even if you think this is laughable or irrational, such people's feelings should still be respected. Dogs do not respect people's personal space. Dogs trigger people's allergies and possibly life-threatening asthma attacks.  Where sanitation is concerned, whether hardware store or bank or café, it's all the same: animals DO NOT belong in our local businesses. —I just want to shop in peace
