Thanks to the anonymous sidewalk chalk artist who sketched the nifty little diagram of the Raw Day Bus Stop Waltz at the stop near the intersection of Oxford & North! Since my # 52 didn't show up this morning at 7... or at 7:15... it gave me something to smile at! I hope it's still there in the morning - I want a picture!

I just wanted to say thank you to the girl who found my butterfly ring in the washroom of the Jenn Grant concert at St.Matthew's church Saturday night and turned it in to the ticket desk. It has very little monetary value but is priceless to me,so thank you so very much, you are truly wonderful and I appreciate you, whoever you are!

Thank you to the woman (and also her friend) who stopped in the tumbling hail outside the Farmer's Market to listen to us busking. And thank you especially for your compliments. We will be back at some point.

Thank you SO much to the girl who realized I left my wallet on the bus, and then somehow got the bus to wait while you ran after me to return it! Not many people would have done that, you are a sweetheart. Thanks again.

For years I've avoided ever going into the Palace because it's not my scene. It reeks of desperation and I've heard nothing but horror stories about useless, angry bouncers. When Flogging Molly was booked to play here at the Palace, I was dismayed, however I can't choose the venue, especially when punk rock venues have sadly diminished in this city. Yet on Oct 14th, I was pleasantly surprised by how great the Palace was at hosting this band and the hugely diverse crowd that convened there. They allowed moshing and at no point that I saw (I was in the pit so something could have happened on the outskirts) did anything get out of hand. I crowd surfed along with others and the bouncers guided all of us down to a safe area next to the stage. Anywhere else, we would have been kicked out. Amazing tolerance of us! My feet got pretty banged up and one of the bouncers even got a First Aid kit and put band-aids on my bleeding toe after the show! Kudos to the bouncers...it's good to see the Palace have some great representation!

To the guy who parked on Ahern Avenue behind Citadel High School. You waved me down and told me you were moving so I could take your spot. Thank you for giving me your parking spot, you probably saved me a parking ticket I can barely afford.

dear all the pretty boys at Just Us Cafe house on Spring Garden Road...there are many reason to love Just Us; the lovely atmosphere, the groovy tunes, the fair trade philosophy, the organic goodness, but thank you thank you thank you for all the the pretty, pretty boys that work behind your counter and frequent the establishment, where a lovely steaming cup-of-something allows them to sit beautifully and tranquilly for the rest of us to enjoy.

Dear Halifax,
I miss you. I knew I would, but I didn't understand the many different ways. The ocean, of course, and Point Pleasent, and the Public Gardens, not to mention my dear friends. But do you want to know what I miss most? Your music scene. Yes, I miss the ability to walk out my door, and with 20 mins., be watching a live musician. There's so much music going on, especially this time of year, it's almost shameful. I wouldn't begrudge you all that entertainment Halifax, you work too hard to make sure all those talented people want to play your venues. But maybe you could share a few secrets with other cities? Here in Ottawa, downtown kinda just sputters out at night. And there's no handy-dandy guide to all the happenings about town. This Maritimer feels a little like a fish out of water.
When I next visit you Halifax, I hope we have time to enjoy some great music on the town. I can't wait.
