To the crew handing out fair-trade chocolate at the corner of Queen and Spring Garden on Thursday - you guys rock!

Thank you so much for filling up my bag with treats when just one bar would have been greatly appreciated. You made my day! —My Tummy Hurts

Thank you to the little red capped tugboat for bringing a smile to my face every time I see you floating in the "big harbour". —Aquarius (water lover)

Yesterday, the traffic on the Bedford Highway was crazy, and you biked right passed me, onto a little gravel thing, and onto the sidewalk up Kerney Lake, that super steep hill. I tried, and I caught up to you, and you gave me a massive smile before you took a right turn and rode away.

Just thought you should know that you're adorable! And I usually don't make it up the whole hill... so thanks for the motivation. :D —Girl with the green helmet

I had on black boots, black jeans, a white shirt, blue wool hat, & broken glasses.

You had on grey jeans and a black shirt, short hair. Your friend was wearing a black skirt and black top, and maybe had black boots and maybe had her septum pierced...

ANYWAYS, you made sustained eye contact with me when you were passing, and you definitely saw my shy smirk. Your eyes melted me, I should've asked for your name.—Black shirt, Grey jeans

to 5th floor: Met you the other day in the elevator. I was having a day from hell, but our quick conversation turned that around for a moment. Would have loved to chat more. —10th floor

I often almost get smoked on my morning bicycle commute and today was no exception. A car nearly ran me off the road and continued to sandwich me tight to the curb when it had plenty of room to provide ample berth.

While it was infuriating, what was great about it was how everyone else reacted. The oncoming cars honked angrily and a pedestrian gave the driver a big old middle finger.

Thanks everyone for being outraged and calling that driver on such reckless disregard for my safety. —Not a smoked sandwich

To the library staff:

I know that it must've been a shock when I said that I was coming unannounced to your centre with a camp full of kids and staff, but you didn't bat an eye and said that it would be no problem.

Not only did you make room for us, but you gave us a private room filled with books, games and ready-made crafts. I wish you could have seen our faces when we walked in, it was like Christmas on Valium! There was so much to see and do that no one even knew where to start.

Thank you for going (way) above and beyond and inspiring me to go the extra mile at my job! —The Newest Member of the C.W.S.P.L. Fanclub!

I was half-asleep, walking to work at 5:30 am. In my sleepy state, I somehow failed to notice that a car was following me near the Olands brewery.

When this creep pulled over, and flashed his lights, I woke up a little bit, but not quickly enough to react when he started getting out of his car. You came out of nowhere, pulled over, and called me over to your bus.

That was enough to make the creep get back into his car, pull a u-turn, and run off. I can't explain how thankful I am that you were more aware of your surroundings than I was that morning. You probably didn't think too much of the whole situation, but I can't thank you enough.

There has been so much coverage about Halifax being a crime-filled city; it's nice to know there still are a few good people around. —Thanks

Oh Spike... there are so many things I could tell you. But most of all I just need you to know that I wasn't faking any of it. That you made me feel incredible. That I found parts of myself that I had thought I'd lost.

I am not the crafty wordsmith that you are so I'll leave it to a better writer than I to finish up:

Oh yes

there are worse things than
being alone
but it often takes decades
to realize this
and most often
when you do
it's too late

and there's nothing worse than too late
