To the band and the crowd at the Hold Steady on Friday, that was the best vibe I've had at a show in a decade. The band threw it down, and the Halifax crowd picked it up and ran with it. I didn't expect much from either to be honest, and it turned out to be one of the best shows I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.

After two years of dead crowds and a New Pornographers audience that was barely breathing, Friday's show smashed me in the face from the stage - and in glorious surround sound.

I learned that when the opportunity arises, Halifax crowds can rock world class.

Perhaps you will never take me seriously again... we will likely never laugh like we once did, nor even have a normal, genuinely fun conversation, and I know that is my doing.

Seeing as that may never happen, I still want you to know that of all things in this universe I am thankful for, you are still one of them. I have been met with crappy situation after crappy situation (some a product of my bad decisions, some just plain poor luck -or karma- still deciding) but you have more than gone out of your way to ensure that our amazingly beautiful daughter gets to spend time with her Dad.

I only wish I could flick a switch to improve my situation and reciprocate -some day I will- But for now, just know that you are not taken for granted and while giving me such a wonderful daughter in the first place was a true gift seeing her become the girl she is, is a true testament to you and how you have raised her.

So thank you, I know that years down the road the relationship I have with our daughter will be attributed greatly to you, and I will never forget that. —she'ZAM

To the extremely cute library employee to whom I did not show very good manners nor bus stop etiquette yesterday- my apologies. I was somewhere off in my own little world. By the time I realized you were approaching a bus that may have left without you I had already stepped on and likely appeared to be pretty ignorant. I am usually pretty considerate and normally would have waited to allow you to get on the bus first, but apparently all connections between my mind and the rest of the world were completely cut.

Hopefully I still get one of your amazing smiles every now and then when I am in the library.—I really am a "GOOD MAN......" hint, hint

Although I am far far away from my fabulous home in Halifax, it is you that keeps me feeling connected. For years we have been best friends, you tell me all the insider secrets, show me pictures of fun events and keep me smiling with your loves and bitches. We have been friends for so long now that I don't think our love can ever die.

I love you, thank you for being online. —Still enjoying you from afar

You were really rocking out at Pacifico on Friday. It was nice to see someone else who was just there to dance and have a good time. Just thought you should know that you're awesome. Rock on, suit man, rock on. —Girl in the blue dress

To all those paper marking, tweed wearing, glasses cleaning, graying around the temples man-profs who chuckle at their own jokes and whose tangents are athletic: you make smart sexy!

Your office hours make us, the students who swoon at your comments in the margins, think indecent things. Keep giving those brain-gasms! —Lover of the suede elbow patch

I wanted to send out some love to everyone who helped me after I was hit by a car. From the driver who stopped and called 911, to the nursing student to stopped to help even though she had just been passing, the paramedics, the cops, the firefighters who helped me take my leather coat off while I couldn't move my spine (there was no way I would let it be cut it off), and of course, the amazing and compassionate doctors and nurses: you guys are heroes and I can't thank you enough. —Bruised (but not broken) biker
