Kudos to the fair trade coffee shop on Barrington. I was jonesing for a coffee but short on change. Your staffer made my morning by giving me a dark roast anyway. The world is a friendly place! —Javinated

Yesterday afternoon, it was gorgeous in DT Halifax so I wanted to share some love. I purchased a little red bucket, I filled it with candy, and tried to give it to strangers. Not too many people took me up on my offer, but to those who did... HOORAY FOR YOU! I wasn't soliciting anything, I wasn't asking for anything, I was just trying to show some love. I walked from Duke St. to Quinpool Rd. Even though there were not many takers, I WILL DO THIS AGAIN! So if a crazy girl offers you candy, smile and say thanks! —Girl with The Red Bucket

I take the last #10 from Dal every night, however the driver on Tuesday Night actually kept checking his mirror for running passengers prior to leaving Dal! I have seen him many times lately and it is always the same thing. After starting to leave he noticed a student running and stopped the bus and waited. This sort of thing is noticed and appreciated hopefully by many. Hats off to the driver of the last #10 on Tuesday nights. "He is not bad to look at either." —Thankful Rider

To the guy who works the salad bar at a downtown grocery store in the afternoons, you make my day! The little phrases you come up with every now and then ('Snow peas? S'no problem!') make me giggle a lot. You may not think anyone notices that you change your funny quips from time to time, but I do, and I love it! I always hope you're working when I'm getting a salad for lunch. You look a little like Bob Dylan too, which is awesome apart from that. You make my lunches much more enjoyable. —I'll Always Ask for Snow Peas Now

To the little old lady I saw get cut off in the crosswalk near a downtown grocery store—props to you for screaming/swearing at the moron who was clearly not paying attention as he pulled out into the street and almost hit you, as you were in the middle of the crosswalk! Hopefully he will pay better attention next time. —LZ

Dear Halifax, every time I read the "Love" section in The Coast you remind me why I'm still here, why I still live in this charming little place and not in some great big city like Toronto. All the love for beautiful passers-by, for your friends, your dog, the drunk girls who scream "wooooo" at all hours of weekend nights, and for all the bus drivers who make a difference and make your day - all the love is beautiful. You make Halifax the best city to be in. Thank you. —Love + Love

*Sigh* Oh, PINK... As beautiful as you are, you make me sad. Not a day goes by when I don't see you, waiting for the ferry all by yourself and engrossed in a spy novel, and tear my heart out hoping you'll notice me... maybe even smile at me. I only wish I were brave enough to tell you how I feel in person, but you are far too beautiful for my clumsy attempts to woo you, and I get tongue-tied just thinking of you. Clearly, you deserve far better than I can ever offer, but I wanted you to know that your sweet, kind, gentle face never fails to melt my heart, weaken my knees and bathe me in sunlight on even the cloudiest of days. You deserve a great guy who worships you as I do, and maybe you already have one. A girl as lovely as you must have many worthy suitors. Sadly, I'm far too shy and, well, dorky to risk disturbing you. But that doesn't mean you don't always make my day just by being around. Thank you. And if you ever feel like putting that book down and chatting, I'll be only too happy to oblige. —Without Notice

Hello darling/Allô beauté/Allô toi encore, I see you everywhere around town, and though I am never seeking you out, you appear in my line of vision in delightfully serendipitous moments. Whenever we meet I feel joy & luck & the loveliness of being on my side. You really light this place up. When we talk and not: in class, in your shop; North end or down south; on the #7 route with an orange rose, dancing all night shaking up those bones; over the water and back again, always with adrenaline, I see your eyes and smile crossing, I think of you when I'm flossing. Grizzly Bear and your awesome hair. J'ai toujours hate de te revoir, et j'aime que ca soit par hazard. A bientôt le beau, j'veut faire ta vaiselle la belle. —Wide Eyed Girl
