To the people who rescued me from the skylight on a rainy day, kept me warm and fed me honey, and released me into the sunshine, thank you. I'm home in the hive, safe for the winter. —Black Wasp

To the man at a certain bar who swept me off my feet: is this real life?
It was the free cover and the potential for beer that brought me out that night, but it was the devilishly handsome and unnaturally talented guitarist that made me stay for hours longer than I'd planned to. I made excuses for my friends to stay:
"It's rude to leave now."
"I can see their set list and I love the last song," and
"C'mooooooooooooon."
But no dice. I knew that my cool retro sweater and high levels of awesome were irresistible, and that your inability to resist the irresistible made me the logical target of your affections, so I trekked on being awkward and pretending to dance until your show was over. And then there you were! Shaking my hand for way too long, and asking for my phone number. There is no way this is real life.
I'm far far away now, but I just wanted to let you know that if you want to keep me, I promise I'll never get mad at you for eating crackers in bed. —Balloon Allergy

Your light warms my spirit, and sheds happiness and love into my life, something that I need! Without the sun the earth would be dead, so without your radiance, I wouldn't be feeling what I do now. My heart chakra opened for you, the first time it's opened like that for anyone. Thank you. —Moon Girl

The recently renovated apartment house at the corner of North & Gottingen makes my heart happy every time I go by it. Big thanks to the owner, who did a really top notch job of refurbishing a tired but basically attractive and prominently-situated structure. May others follow suit. —La Preservationista

To the unknown man who turned in my wallet containing lots of money, credit cards and all my ID at the Halloween store on Tuesday night. You could have pocketed my money and walked away but you didn't. I have had a really hard month and this is another among several reminders for me that goodness exists and is thriving. —Thankful Traveller

I just wanted to let you know that the little things you do make me love you that much more. Waking up to a rack of clean and dry dishes in the morning, coming home to a pot of pasta and a new episode of one of our favorite shows to watch, surprise visits in between my classes or at work -- it's all of these things that are responsible for my smile throughout the week. I love you! —An Appreciative Woman

Last Friday my furnace broke down. Waiting for a part. It is so cold in my house the ice cubes in my glass of water stayed in full form overnight into the morning. I wish that I had a nice warm embraced hug right now to keep me warm. My blankets are so cold that they did not even keep me warm. I send my love out to anybody who is freezing in his or her homes. Bye for now. —Freezing

How else can I start but to say that it started with a feather falling from elegant grace on high? It drifted down the columns of air as lightly as was the reflection of light in your eyes. As I looked down at our toes I realized that I was truly humbled not just by your stellar conversation but also by your stunning allure. If I had to eliminate 2 A's out of three I would still know the one that amazes the most. —Befuddled

To the lady who walks three or more Pekingese dogs in her old fashioned baby carriage, OH MY GOD, you and your dogs are the most PRECIOUS things I've seen in this entire city! I wish I could snuggle and play with those dogs of yours forever and I wish I could discuss the finer points of owning a pekingese, as I have one of my own. You're adorable! —Pekingese Obsessed Gal

To the hotdog vender next to a hardware store on Robie Street - YOU made my day. First off, bless your heart for selling hotdogs on a freezing cold day. Second, thanks for showing sympathy and concern when I bitched about me having to wait 3 hours at the mechanic for my pos car to get fixed. YOU asking ME how my day was made me so happy that I could vent about my issues. You're the nicest hotdog vender on the East Coast!! —Hotdog Craver
