I see a lot of bitching on Halifax transit, and for the most part I agree. But I have to send some love out to the driver who calls out the name/location of the stops when it's getting dark out. You make my life easier and it takes my night-time bus-induced anxiety down a notch or two. Thank you! —Night-Time Commuter

Like the idiot I am, I went and dropped my paycheque in the library last night. To whoever it was that picked it up and handed it in, thank you. To the librarian who took time out of her day to look me up and call me, thank you. I'm glad to be on the receiving end of one of those good deeds. Halifax has some truly lovely people, and it's nice to be reminded of that. THANK YOU. —Able To Pay Rent

Just wanted to send some love to NSCAD. To those of you out there who think that this is just another sink hole for your tax dollars and can't see the point of the government spending money on arts education when you could be educating lawyers at a lower cost, let me point out that NSCAD is almost single handedly responsible for cultivating and maintaining the arts scene that makes Halifax the cultural hub of the east coast. That culture is what brings in the tourists. It's what brings students from all across the country to all of the other universities in the city as well. As the school is being threatened with mergers and crippling cuts, I hope people keep in mind just how much NSCAD has done for this town. Halifax needs NSCAD. Nova Scotia needs NSCAD. I need NSCAD. Much love! —A Student

You two were at the mall during midnight madness, and I couldn't help but smile each time I passed you. One of you had on an Angry Birds t-shirt, the other an animal hat (zebra?). The pair of you clasping hands so naturally was adorable and inspiring. You are what I wish I was as a teenager. Keep it up, boys! Don't let anyone make you let go! —Pride in Youth

I must tell Halifax a story to prove that love exists. I experienced this maybe two weeks ago on a bus heading up Spring Garden. There were two old folks sitting across from one another. They were far enough away I assumed they were not together. But as I listened to Bonobo, I began to notice their eye contact. She was even giving him little hints of a smile then looking away. When she stood to get off the bus, he quickly stood to, giving her a hand up. They both got off, looked at each other without a word, then walked their own ways. Love exists, be open to it. Go find the one you love and tell them so. —Lover of Lovers

Years and years ago I was a young lady with no direction and path. I used to squeegee on Robie and Quinpool and panhandle in various spots all over the city, I have had some very kind and generous people step out of the mix and be very generous with me, a complete stranger, and in many ways give me hope. I just need to send out the most heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped me. It's almost 7 years later and I found my way. I have a happy home and life, I work hard and help others when I can. I feel very fulfilled and I constantly reflect on the people who put an arm around a young street girl and showed her kindness. I hope your karma found its way back to you and all of you are finding blessings in your life today. You changed my life and helped me obtain something I never thought I would have for myself, a home. Merry Christmas. —Karma's Benefactor

All I want for Christmas is a hot guy to make out with under the mistletoe. Can you make it happen, Santa? Pretty please. —Little One

After years and years of dating horrid boys that I thought I could fix and change, my mother gave me the most simple and true advice I'd ever received: "Instead of dating men that you need to change, why don't you just wait and find someone that you want for who they are?" At the time I was thinking... right, that's easier said than done, but it stuck with me. Sure enough however, about a month later I found you! You're the most caring, loving person I know. You love me unconditionally, you do not judge and you love me just the way I am or any way I'll ever be. You're my best friend, and when you have that even after the lust has faded you know that it's meant to be. Thank you for being you and thank you for loving me! —Your Squishy
