You are the bright young thing who works at a store on Grafton Street. I was shopping there on Wednesday with my best friend, the last day of a two week visit before I return to the drudge and homesickness of my life in the UK. The sun was shining and BF and I were having a wonderful, wistful day. I asked you what song you had playing on your computer, and your response was genuine, enthusiastic and delightful. No hipsterism, just a lady in love with her tunes. Then you made a little list on a till receipt of other bands I might like with the same simple joy of a music lover who wants to share.
I just wanted you to know I've been looking up your bands, and you were right---I do like them. But more than that, your little act of kindness is a reminder that I come from a city of wonderful people. Thank you, and keep rocking. —Thank You For The Music

So yesterday I was on the #1 bus, sometime shortly after 4pm. Around Dalhousie University, a young "lady" got on, having a loud cellphone conversation. Now, I'm not one of those who bemoans the downfall of civilization whenever somebody uses a phone on the bus, nor do I clutch my pearls when somebody says "Oh goshdarnit" in my presence. But a public transit bus with a captive audience is NOT the time or the place to hold a loud cellphone chat broadcasting your latest drunken antics, while using F-bombs and other swears the way kids put sugar on breakfast cereal.
I know I wasn't the only one who felt this way, because the bus driver told that lady (who was sitting right behind him) to cool it with the swears, or she was going to have to leave the bus. She managed to hold off on the cusses for a few blocks, until we got to Spring Garden Road and Queen Street. Then she started with the F-bombs again, This time the driver told her where to get off. Literally. She did so, cussing all the way, threatening to report him. It was then that I called up to him, saying I would gladly be a witness on his behalf if she tried to do such a thing. Around me, I could tell other passengers were relieved that the situation had been dealt with.
I just want to say major kudos to that driver, for enforcing common courtesy and civilized behaviour on his bus, making public transit a better place for everyone else. —Amanita

Thanks to the nice guys at the south end bottle return. I showed up with my bottles and because I was with my new baby, a guy who was ahead of me in line alerted the staff who pulled me out of the line, carried the bottles for me and helped by pushing my stroller outside where I could wait in the quiet while the sorters went to work. Then another staff brought my change out to me. Thanks a ton. You made this errand way easier and I really appreciate your kindness. —New Mom Running Errands

The happiest time of my life was with you, doing our dorky things like dancing in the kitchen, having bonfires, rafting down a river, running around naked in a creek like children, your grilled cheese sandwiches, your blonde eyelashes, your body, oh so built. I have decided to think of these beautiful things when I think of you, instead of the dark side that frightened me, betrayed me. I forgive, and appreciate that you were once in my life. Farwell thee, incredible man. May you find so much love it fills you up and makes you dizzy. xoxox —Your Smallest

I met you a couple weeks ago, and I came to find that you were my boss. I felt an immediate attraction to you, and now I lay in bed every night tossing and turning, thinking about the ten year age difference and if there was really any significant meaning to the interactions that we have had in the past couple weeks. I have told myself that it's wrong, but yet every time I get to work and see your smiling face welcoming me into work, it brightens my day and I melt. You simply make my day and when you aren't there, I notice. The worst thing of all is that I will never want to deal with the rejection or disappointment of you turning me down, so you will probably never know that I feel this way. —Back For More

I'm a huge movie buff, which has caused me to be extremely critical of movies (especially some of the crap they produce these days). But never have I finished watching a film and wanted to stand up and applaud. I wanted so badly to start a slow-motion clap, one that would do justice to the epicness contained in that 2hr20min of my life. The world is richer and fuller from the creating of that film. One and all should flock to the local theater to partake in this world changing experience. —Epic
