Yesterday I got on the number 18 to go to school. As usual for that time of the day it was absolutely packed. I was dressed in my most 'thug'-like clothes: baggy jeans, giant hoody and jacket, big lug boots, backwards ball cap with my big headphones blaring rap music. I was also carrying my really heavy backpack and even bigger gym bag across my shoulder. To get my bus pass I had to sling my backpack around off one shoulder and quickly hurry into the crowd of people to find a place to stand. I was clearly struggling trying to get my pack back on, nearly falling over when you, an older woman about 60 or 70 sitting down beside me reached up and helped pull my backpack back over my shoulder. What surprised me about this was the fact that I didn't look like an approachable person whatsoever, in fact, if I were you I would have been completely intimidated by me. You continued to comment on how heavy my bags were and asked what I was studying. After I told you that I was majoring in Political Science you continued to have an in-depth conversation with me about your feelings on politics and I'm really glad that you did. You being an older woman, I admittedly had some preconceptions about your views but you really surprised me and your small act of kindness made my day. You rock, thank you so much! —Swaggin' Poli-Sci Girl

Congratulations to the owner of restaurants in Halifax who listened to his neighbours in the north end. When the demolition notice went in for that old building we were upset. We spoke our mind and he listened. Now look, a fantastic restoration job that adds beauty to our neighbourhood. Bravo. —Two Wheeler

Thank you to the gentleman who moved his feet off the bus seat so I could ride backwards. For seven minutes, looking at and talking with you, I forgot about being stood up, starving, ignored and uninvited. I will treat you to coffee anytime.
Bless your heart. —J

Shoulder-length brown hair, leather jacket, brown boots, and stunning eyebrows. You are beautiful, and you deserve to know it. You made my ride home good by simply existing. —Sleepyhead

We used to be unstoppable, inseparable, one. I went on my downhill slope and you held my hand the entire time. You held us by the seams until I ripped the last thread from out of your hand. Karma hit me, literally. My sick body nearly died, and my aged and withered soul completely did.
As the warm season brought the trees and flowers back to life, my soul also began to revive itself into a rebirth. But it was still in hiding, ashamed of its preceeding existence. And then I let go. Released. I revealed my youthful soul to you only to find you never stopped loving it, even in its pityful last days of its bittersweet demise. For this, I will be eternally indebted.
I love you, and am forever yours. —Let's Go Make Our Future

I went to get my hair cut in the west end last week and my regular girl wasn't in. A beautiful, raven-haired vixen came to my rescue and did a great job. I hope you are around for the next one as I may not wait so long between cuts anymore. I could have gotten lost for hours staring at that mirror... thanks again! —Hat-Head

Thank you to the wonderful person who found an earring at the Salt Marsh Trail within the last couple of weeks and had the kindness to bring it back to the entrance and hang it on the board. It wasn't fancy or expensive, but I was overjoyed to have my earring back! Most people wouldn't have given it a second thought, but you made my day! Thanks! —Earlobes are Whole Again

I look out and see you getting ready to rest for the winter. Some people see dead plants and dormant trees, I see beauty and promise. Thank you for bringing me happiness every day. —Dirty Fingernails
