To the RCMP officer who stopped on the 207 yesterday morning, to get a rather large brood of ducks to safety...good on you! You can have my tax dollars anytime. — L'town Express

Thank-you for shooting me that playful smile as I got off the bus. It made my day. —Flushed

I just wanted to send a huge " Thank you!!" to the stranger who was on the #1 bus going downtown, with me on Saturday afternoon. I was sitting with my husband feeling a little paranoid, because it was the first time literally ever that I had gone out of my home without dressing up or wearing a ton of makeup. I had decided the day before that I needed to stop caring what I look like so much and so I put little to no effort into getting ready that day. Anyways, when you were getting off the bus you stopped and looked at me and told me that I looked so beautiful and I have not stopped smiling ever since. I only wish you knew how much your words meant to me and have affected me. I have spent 27 years suffering from severe body image and self esteem issues, but ever since I received your compliment I have begun viewing myself a little differently and have started feeling more positive. Thank you for making me feel beautiful for the first time in my life and for giving me faith in humanity. Lots of love sent your way!!!!! —Thankful lady

I met you and your Great Dane Tuesday night at the hospital, and your smile has not left my mind since. I hope chance or fate allows us to end up crossing paths again in the near future! —Girl you said had a beautiful smile

The wonderful roofline on the Fireworks store, Argyle Fine Art's spontaneous window tribute to Alex Colville, the sure knowledge that, with our fabulous new library, the days are numbered for the "extreme heat closure" sign on the main branch library. All good stuff. Enjoy the city! —Happy Haligonian

It was a pleasure to run and swim with you (and drink your beer!) this weekend. I was excited to get to know you better, so thank you for being so gracious about the random drop-in and for your fantastic company! What a pleasant surprise to make your acquaintance this summer; you have such an easy presence and a wicked sense of humour (as expected!), and you emanate kindness and generosity. Looking forward to seeing you around and drinking more of your beer (or mine!) on occasion... big smile :) —Mainlander

"Never trust a fucking hippie" said Sid, but now I have to disagree. I attended my first Evolve this weekend and though i had a fantastic night I sadly misplaced my iphone while glow in the dark hula hooping, or perhaps crowd surfing. Anyways, I was pretty much resigned to the fact that it was gone, but somebody turned it in to the lost and found. Even nicer, there were many phones there that had been brought back. Thank you so much to whoever was thoughtful and kind enough to return this instead of keeping it, this made my weekend just that much better. — first time evolver

Thank you for the walk, it was only 20 minutes but I can't stop thinking about you. I had to leave early and did not get to see you again. Maybe our paths will cross again. —any chemistry?

Recently a well-known celebrity played at a popular Halifax venue. Before the show started I was barrelling around in there, came around the corner and was stunned to see the celebrity standing there right in the middle of everything , looking straight at me with a friendly smile. However, instead of returning the smile I turned and took off down the hallway. The reason for this was that I was nervous and scared because one of the people I came with that night had a serious health issue going on and was in the washroom. I was heading down there to see if this person was OK. I thought we may have to take a trip to the hospital and miss the show entirely. Luckily everything settled down and we were able to stay for the show which we all loved. I want to apologize to the celebrity because I feel I was rude to you. It was due to the above circumstances. —Freaked -out concert goer
