If it actually is the you I am thinking of, I do like you, just not all your choices. Think about you? Only every day. I loved you, after all. That doesn't just go away over night, or over 365 + nights. You did kind of fuck it up, which is something I am still more than kind of sad about. —Kind of over it, I guess kind of still not.

To the girl in the headband and colourful backpack who gave the women on the steps of the blue house on Cunard St. a beautiful white gladiolus as she passed by on Monday, you made both her day and mine. And you should know that she sat there smiling long after you were gone. —Watching from my car

i wish i had stopped to say hello, but to the elderly lady waiting outside the Sobeys with the long silver hair, blue pants with big bright white stars on them, a gold belt and a red top. Your Wonder Woman outfit made my day. :) —Stoo

Dear stranger in the black car, thank you for making the Macdonald bridge, and my tuesday commute home from work, super sexy. I was totally digging you all the way to north street. —Unnamed Brunette

Do you like me? Or think about me? I still really like you, even though I fucked up my chances of ever being with you. —Kind of feeling sad

To the young man who was walking down North Street on Thursday evening alone, with white headphones on, singing "Schwiiiing voisine, schwiiiiiiing voisiiiiine" over and over again: that was really haunting and mysterious. We wish we knew the rest of your song, so that we could sing it with you. —A coupla ladies

Hello! We met Sunday (Sept 6) night at the coolest after hours spot in Halifax. We had some really funny conversations but I didn't want to ruin it by asking for your phone number. You told me that you are starting a jewelry making course at NSCAD where you melt your own metal! I'd love to hear all about it. :-) —Silly Walker

Today was garbage day. The first garbage day since my partner of over 25 years passed away. We had so many family and friends gather at our home to support and join us in our grief. It was a wonderful celebration of his life. As I organized the garage this morning, I realized my "kitchen angels" from near and far, did not fully understand our "garbage and recycling rules." We had TWO huge green garbage bags and not a clear bag in sight. I left a note on the garbage cans explaining the situation and asked them to take the extra bag "this one time.” They took all the garbage and took their time to leave a note saying, "That's no problem at all. Sorry for your loss,” Signed their names with a byline: “Your friendly neighbourhood garbage men." Such compassion warmed my heart. —Inaugural Member of Team Pat

We've had some great trips together in great cities—Montreal, Detroit (yeah rock on!), et cetera. But the last two weeks have reminded me how f-ing great Halifax is. I didn't want to tell you the day you left for Italy I lost my job—why worry you? The weather has been great and made this bearable without you, and getting messages from you has really helped. I love you, and looking forward to gettin' back to work when you return this week! xo —Ms. Naples

Shoutout to the petite woman with long brown hair helping an older, visually-impaired woman crossing the treacherous, torn-up Oxford and Quinpool intersection on Tuesday morning. I was watching from the other side of the street and when I first saw you crossing with your arm around her, I assumed she was a family member or friend. Then I heard her thank you politely and realized you were just helping out. Good on ya. I love witnessing these random acts of kindness. —A random passerby
