At the Eastern Passage coffee place on April 21—thank you very much, kind sir in the truck. I appreciate the coffee and the kindness. I will pay it forward! —Thankful

You didn't love me enough to actually go out of your way to act on the love you claimed to feel for me. You had your reasons for not introducing yourself. Perhaps you felt you were too good for me. —Stranger

A big warm Shout-Out to the people with signs on Spring Garden/South Park today. The animals suffering in misery in the tiny cages at the animal testing labs at a certain University in Halifax, (Sewing kittens eyelids shut.... WTF?) may not be able to read your signs -- But that's no reason to make them suffer and then take their lives. —Animal Lover in Halifax

To the man I gave a snarky, uncalled-for comment to outside of the Lower Deck: I am truly sorry. I was rude and I feel awful about it. Thank you for calling me on my bullshit. —Eating Crow

To the two people on the number 7 who got off the bus after being harassed: I'm really sorry that happened, and I'm sorry no one said anything while you were still on the bus. Something must have happened before I got on—the weird guy was loudly proclaiming odd comments about “transgendered sandwiches” (WTF), but I thought he was just a fucked up guy. It wasn't until you got off (as he yelled some weird comment at your retreating backs) and I saw your stricken faces that I realized the comments were aimed at you. I want you to know that when the weird guy went to get off the bus, a young woman confronted him and told him “he had problems.” I thought he was going to hit her, but instead he just wandered off. The bus driver seemed horrified when she explained what had happened, and immediately filed a report. He apologized and said he would have intervened if he'd realized what was going on. He'd thought he was just a crazy guy saying random shit. So did I. Anyway, I'm sorry it happened, and really sorry no one stood up for you while you were there. But know that someone did, even if it was too late for you to hear. —Fellow Human

Halifax is where my heart is. I fell in love here; I have been my happiest here; I've been at my worst here. When I'm away, I feel like I'm in limbo. And I'm so happy to be back home, especially right now when everything is so full of potential. —xoxox

I had a sneaking suspicion that this love thing is just an ingenious evolutionary plan to keep sentient beings from the logical conclusion to self destruct. I investigated other possibilities, as dark and as ugly as I could go. Experiments were conducted. Most of them were stupid. And still, there it is. I realize that thing was more important for me than it ever will be for you. That isn't something I would want to change. But I do want you to know that I tried to understand why I felt the way that I did. It was all very sloppy, but it was also very real. —Stranger

Your dog, Bella, always makes my day. She is obviously quite old and seems a little sick, but she always perks up when she sees me and lets me pet her on my way to class. Thank you for letting her chill on your porch all day. I'm sure she brightens a lot of strangers' days. —A local dog-lover
