As a person who identifies with an alternative subculture(s), I tend to dress myself befitting to the lifestyle I lead and it gets noticed. I wanted to say to everyone who approaches me to tell me how nice they think I look, or how interesting and wonderful, a very big THANK YOU!! I have a hard time coming up with what to say beyond thank you when approached, and it sometimes feels too automatic, but I really truly am grateful and so appreciative of your comments and your positivity on some days is the lighthouse on my shore line. Building up the confidence to be who you want to be and do what you love because you love it and it makes you happy is no small journey. I love who I am and who I am becoming and it means so much when a stranger takes a couple seconds out of their day to say something nice, to acknowledge a difference with a smile. —Girl with the Hat

A plant-powered, non-violent hug to the wonderful vegan people handing out flyers on the Halifax Waterfront the other day! You are making the world a little bit better! —Plants Corpses Only in my Body

Figuring out that you're in an emotionally abusive relationship is really tough. That's why it took me so many years. Even though I continued to make the choice that hurt myself, a few friends continued to be supportive without being cruel or judgemental to either party. I can't give y'all enough praise and am thankful for your I-told-you-sos. And to her 'death-stare' supporters, nothing can dismantle the relief I feel from escaping. —Steve McQueen is My Co-Pilot

Thanks trees and planters for being so kind. For offering a bit of shade, a bit of grass. You muffle the street noise and soften its lines. You're a paragon of function, you're a perfect little bench. Folks sit, chat and laugh on Gottingen Street. I think there should be more. Send 'em up and down the street. Christ, they'd make Quinpool way better too. We should stick em' up there. Do it. Thanks. —Bill W

To the baristas at my favourite local cafe: you are all so wonderful! I think that all the time but especially wanted to say so after the last time I was in, when a fellow customer was pretty rude to you. You're on your feet for long hours trying to please everyone, and you deserve no less respect than any other worker in any industry. You are all so friendly and kind and so good at what you do! Thanks for caffeinating me :) —A Regular

To the beautiful blonde and her boyfriend (whose body many would gladly eat sauerkraut off of) who were at Birch Cove beach today: It was great to watch you guys with each other today. So in love! All wrapped up in each other. And then you had that adorable little pup with you as well. The picture of a happy family couldn't have been more perfect. Made my day :) —Lovernotafighter

Pokémon Pokémon Pokémon. It's all over again, even in the front page of the fucking papers now. To the point where they just add it in for no reason. “Woman gets solicited for sex while walking in park, while playing Pokémon Go.” What the fuck? Who gives a fuck about Pokémon. Isn't the point that she was solicited for sex? Leave out the Pokémon bit and it seems a little more real, otherwise fuck off. Also, Pokémon is lame FYI. —Pokémon Hater
