Government should do its best to live within its means.

Hopefully now those in a position of authority will also make a determined effort to reform MLA pensions.  Since the chief criteria is affordability, and since the MLA pension plan would be considered by most Nova Scotianers to be unaffordable,  it is time to revisit this issue.  We now know that objective third party panels reviewing compensation issues in the public sector are no longer seen as necessary or legitimate so the work done by that previous panel can now be placed aside.

If MLAs were treated like ordinary public sector workers on their pensions it could result in a saving of millions which could be used to help provide funding for additional supports for disabled children in the educational system.  As a number of the senior people in the Government already have another public sector pension from other jobs that they have done, it should cause minimum economic distress. —Keep up the work guys

To the young guy working the cash at the VV in Bayers Lake last Friday: Not only are you tall, dark and handsome but more importantly, you seem kind and your smile and friendly service made my day.  The staff at this store are upbeat and friendly and make it a welcoming place to be, even when it's crowded and busy. —VV Groupie

Hi beautiful, been a long time.  I sort of fell off a cliff when you left.  I applaud you for doing so, it needed doing.  I am slowly starting to climb out of this hole I have dug for myself.  I love you, more than you know.  Not contacting you earlier has been one of the hardest things I've ever done.  I miss you something fierce.  I was bad to you and for you, and for that I am truly sorry.  I hope that in a few weeks when I return, you will let me see you, hold you.

Additionally, I have been saving my loonies for you. –Hug it the bear

Thank you to the person who has left a sled for public use in the Ravenscraig field! I took my dog for a walk there last night and spent the next hour laughing as I flew down the hill with my pup chasing after me! SO MUCH FUN. We need more people like you. Thanks for trusting it would be there in the morning. —Jaxy-Baby and his BFF

Thanks to my neighbors who took pity on me and my tiny tiny shovel. They helped me dig my car out of a four and a half-foot snow drift. They said it was car seven of the day. You rock! –Frosty the apt. dweller

Huge shout-out and thanks to the team from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helping stranded drivers. I was heading on to the Bedford highway from the MacKay Bridge when I got stuck in the snow the plow left between lanes.  Cars were whizzing past me on both sides. I wasn't there three minutes when a truck pulled up and four guys with shovels hopped out. They shoveled and pushed me out. Way to live your beliefs by helping strangers in need on a snow day! Thank you so much. —Stranded driver

To the folks at a local gluten-free food establishment, thanks for making my mornings better. I'm too lazy and unmotivated to make my own darn breakfast most of the time, but I've noticed that it's not just the food that keeps me coming back. Your smiles are great (Like, really great). Thanks for being great. —Your friendly neighbourhood studio ma'am

I was trapped during the storm, between the crash door of my apartment building and the gate to the sidewalk. My dog and I were snowed in. As I was about to panic, you appeared with a shovel. You said you bought a shovel to help people during snow storms. If it weren't for you, my dog and I would still be stuck there. Thank you so much. –Guy wearing a Bruins jacket, carrying a shovel

To everyone working for the taxi companies during this blizzard: Thank you, thank you, thank you. While everyone else is hiding indoors, you're performing an amazing essential service for those of us who still need to dress up warm and get to work. We really truly appreciate it. –We'd be lost without you
