Today I was let go from a terrible job, however I was still an emotional mess. My Macpass fell from my windshield due to the heat and I couldn't find it fast enough. The toll employee was not the most understanding person. But then YOU offered to pay for my toll. Thank you for showing me such kindness on a day when I needed it the most!

To the guy we met on our first night of vacation: It was heartwarming to hear about your adventures as a father. You seem to put a lot of work into giving your son the best life. Thanks for telling us about the sloth exhibit and for inviting us to crash his birthday party there. It was a highlight of our trip!

This past Monday I lost my wallet. Thank you to the bank lady who helped me freeze all of my accounts when I realized I was missing my wallet. Thank you to the police officer who took my report of "missing property" very seriously, even going as far to contact Halifax Transit to see if anything turned up. Thank you to the bus driver who still drove me home when I explained I lost my wallet that has my bus tickets in it, and I couldn't pay for a fare because my accounts were frozen and I had no access to money.

But the biggest thank you goes to the woman who found my wallet, opened it, found my sister's business card and contacted her to inform her that she found my wallet. You are a truly good person. I'm so thankful. Cards and wallets can be replaced, I can make more money, but my wallet had a picture of my late dog Jake. I'm just happy I got that back.

I just wanted to thank all of the wonderful people who stopped to help me after I flipped over the handlebars of my motorbike driving down the Bedford Highway earlier this week. A huge thank-you to the off-duty firefighter and two nurses who stopped to help, to the guy who called 911, to the guy who used his shirt to shield me from the blistering sun and the woman who lent me her sunglasses. If I am forgetting to thank others who had stopped, I apologize but it is still all a blur. None of you needed to do what you did, but I am very thankful and grateful that there are people like you out there.

Among the contentious debate in the United States concerning women’s right to choose, I found myself in the midst of making my own choice: To continue with an unplanned pregnancy, or to access Halifax’s abortion services. I chose the latter. Naturally, I was scared of the process, and scared about the judgement that I could face from pro-life medical practitioners.

All I can say is thank god for the staff at the clinic. They were nothing short of miracle workers, and made a really, really shitty situation into an empowering, validating experience. They helped me to understand that it is OK—and well within my right—to say that it is not my time to be a parent. They allowed me to cry, and they understood that while I was confident in my choice, I was still harbouring guilt over having to make it. I did not experience ANY judgment towards my choice, and felt nothing but a sense of deep personal respect.

To the one nurse in particular (you know who you are), please know that you are a beacon of hope in an otherwise traumatic situation. You held my hand and wiped tears of emotional and physical discomfort from my face, all while telling me that I was doing the right thing for me. I will never forget the kindness you showed me, and I hope you know that you and your colleagues are making a huge difference in the lives of women in Halifax.

On Tuesday morning I had a bad fall on the edge of Victoria Park. I fell into the boxes for The Coast and Metro, they both went over and the base of one came up and made a serious gash in my leg. I want to thank the young man who came to my assistance, he helped me up and was quite concerned. I had no idea how badly I was injured until 37 staples later. Many thanks to the young man who rushed to help me.

To the lady who stopped and helped me (around Oxford/Vienna/Berlin Streets) with some hand injuries after a bad fall Saturday night, thank you for helping me get home and assisting with the bleeding. (I ended up getting stitches at the ER.) I appreciate your kindness!!

I've always tipped well for every service in Halifax because I know what it's like out here in the hospitality industry—but my hanger got the best of me at a certain pizza place on Saturday, where I angrily put in a $0 tip because my pickup order had been delayed for an hour due to a glitch in the online order. You didn't deserve that. I'll return for more 'za soon and, this time, leave and doubly good tip. —Hangry, now regretful, gal
