To the woman who sat in front on me on the 61 Scotia square today: You heard me talking on the phone with my mother, asking her if she had five or 10 bucks i could borrow because I really wanted to get a coffee, and if I did, I feared I wouldn’t have enough bus change to get to work all week. When I went to get off the bus you handed me $10. A little embarrassed, I tried to refuse your kind gesture, and you simply would not take no for an answer. You truly made my day!
What you don’t know is that I’m a mother of three, working two full-time jobs to get by. I spent my last bit of money the evening before buying groceries. Your kind heartedness truly made me believe there are still genuine, kind people out there. It was so sweet, and I thank you! —Enjoyed my coffee knowing I had bus fare!
To the amazing barber from Cape Breton who works at a new shop downtown: Thank you. My mane was a mess and now it is back to all its glory. I cannot stress how much I appreciate all your kind small talk as you navigated through all the knots and tangles my hair seems to just miraculously create. I have never had a better cut and will be recommending you to everyone I know. —Just another redheaded girl
This morning (June 16) outside of the Alderney Ferry Terminal, I truly witnessed a miracle! A fellow who was just finishing up smoking a cigarette actually GROUND THE BUTT OUT ON A TREE TRUNK AND THEN PROCEEDED TO THROW IT INTO A GARBAGE CAN! Oh happy day! I thanked him for doing that and he thanked me for picking up nearby litter (which I do every day). I wish more smokers were that responsible. —Proud of Respectful Smokers
After getting into a pretty crappy accident on the night of June 3, we had the absolute pleasure of being taken care of by some of the best humans I have ever met. EMS, Halifax Regional Police and Fire, tow truck drivers, passing pedestrians, and commissionaires were quick to the scene and took care of everyone involved efficiently and sensitively.
Although it would have been better to have avoided the situation altogether and dealing with the insurance fallout is going to be a nightmare, we couldn't have asked for better care from everyone who came to help.
We can't thank everyone enough for everything. We feel so lucky to have met every single one of these people and will never forget their kindness. —Freaked out VW Driver
Woah, wowow do I ever have some amazing people in my life. You all have contributed to give me such a beautiful, beautiful gift. It's a dream come true! Thank you to my partner for orchestrating it all—you’re the best! I will honour this treasure for as long as I can. Let the music flowww. —Halimusician who's one year older
To the mystery man at a popular downtown Irish pub who anonymously paid our table's bar tab ($130+): A massive thank you! Apparently someone had done that for him one time and so he was paying it forward. Haligonia rocks! —Dartmouth drinker
Thank you for listening and therefore better understanding. Thank you for not getting defensive; remembering I can to you about me. Thank you for letting me finish my sentences; that was really nice —Sincerely
