A big shout out to all the NSP employees who are pulling mandatory 12 hours shifts trying to get everything back to normal for the province. I know we don't have much luck when it comes to weather and outages but you are all doing a great job.
From the front line call center to the people out on the roads working to fix things, to the retired employees being called in to work long shifts. I know it's been 2 weeks of 12 hour mandatory days back to back. I know it's hard to spend your day being yelled at and I hope the public isn't being too hard on you. Not everyone is as prepared or as understanding as I am. Don't pull your hair out, it will be over soon :)

Thank you for waiting so patiently as I sorted things out. I wouldn't have (and didn't) expect you to be willing to endure the uncertainty and the emotional turmoil, but you said you knew somehow that we could be worth it. The nature of relationships is that they're risky and that they might not work out, but I feel so lucky that we're able to try. This feels right and I miss you when you're not around.

I was heading back to work today after completing my daily lunchtime walk when three lovely young ladies approached me. They handed me a coffee from an expensive chain restaurant and said they'd purchased this for me as a "random act of kindness" that they'd been tasked to do by their school! I thanked and hugged each of them! They were giggling and seemed very happy that I was so happy! Kudos to them and to their school. I've been feeling pretty down lately about the state of the world, and in particular the people in it. This small act helped to restore my faith in humanity—particularly in our youth :)

Every morning I take the ferry to Woodside, and every morning there is the most cheerful woman in the world handing out Metro newspapers. I never take one, but her lovely Dutch/German accent with which she tells me to have a beautiful day really does make me have a beautiful day.

To the kind soul who got medical help for me after a nasty fall on or around Barrington Street on Friday evening: I wasn't able to properly express my deep gratitude in that moment, but please know how thankful I am that you were there for me. It gives me hope to know there are people like you out there.

To the bus driver that found my wife unconscious by the side of the road having a seizure....Well, what does one say? Thank you from the bottom of my heart?? Thank you for saving my wife?? It doesnt seem like enough. I dont even know your name. But know that there is one husband who is forever in your debt. I think you went above and beyond the call of duty. If you hadnt found her I dont know what would have happened. Im calling your bosses and asking for a big fat raise. You have restored my faith in humanity and the kindness of strangers.
