I biked by you crying outside the Old Library the other day. I considered stopping to see if you were all right, but then I decided that that would be kinda intrusive and I didn't want to make you uncomfortable. Anyway, I hope you are having a better day today! —Concerned Cyclist

Thank you to the beautiful young woman who did the guerilla piano tuning at the Public Gardens. That was incredibly cool to watch. I think my kid was more impressed by that than any galleon we saw in the sailboat parade! You made our day. A pair of music lovers

Once in a while I see a man on his bike around Cunard or Bell Road, with a red trailer following behind. There’s no kid in the trailer—but an adorable beagle. He’s usually going by too quickly for me to get my phone out and take a video, but believe me when I say it is one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen. I saw him at the Common on Tuesday and thought about saying hi, but I was too shy. If you are reading this, please know you and your dog make my day whenever I see you two riding along. —Beagle Admirer

June 10, 2017: Props to the street shooter with the Rolleiflex outside the Halifax Central Library. There was that girl in that stance with sunhat and shades. I watched you walk up, take the shot, and move on. I admire your eye and your technique.  Keep it up and don't forget to show your work. Where can we see more?Vivian M.

You were out since 5am walking your somewhat frisbee fetching Border Collie. Met you in Shubie. What a great demeanour and smile you have. —Hello again

I think we all need to take a second and pause. Think of those we love. Our mothers, our fathers, our sisters, our brothers, our best friends, those friends that challenge us, or push us. The people that smile at you on the street. The people that stand so that others can sit. All those that believe in unnecessary kindness (although kindness is necessary). The people that light up our lives and our hearts.

You are all beautiful.
You are all unique.
I love you all.

All friendships are important. Big or small, passing or long lasting, romantic or platonic, passionate or pleasant. And they can be all of those things or none of those things.

I write this in reflection of how lucky I am to have found all of those things in so many special individuals. I have made a conscious effort to tell people in my life how much they mean to me. It's a new thing I'm trying out.

This isn't a well-written blurb. It's a hodge-podge of my thoughts.

But thank you forever friends. You'll always be in my heart, my mind and my soul. I'm so blessed to have found you. —You are my forever friend

I came into work blue mad. I was in the back frowning, silently cursing and doing my job. Everyone was ignoring me—of course that's only natural, I was being pretty bitchy. One of my co-workers was there in the back, just me and him. He hooked up his phone to the radio/player thing to play his tunes and one of the first songs he played was a favourite of mine: Little Spanish Flea. Well, I smiled and I was instantly cheered. I thanked him and told him I felt better and he gave me one of his rare, beaming smiles and said: "That's what I was trying to do." Just when you think no one really gives a f*** about how you feel, someone shows they care in their own little way. —Cranky Co-worker

Thank you to the gentleman at the Central Library on Saturday. We shared an elevator ride and you complimented my tattoos. And I proceeded to blather on nervously about them for the rest of the descent. What I SHOULD have said was thanks for brightening my day! And I was wrong, some of them do have meaning! —Inked Blatherer

A big thanks goes out to the awesome woman who took the time to stop and mouth 'I love your sunglasses!' to me while I was sitting in my car outside a certain grocery store. I was having an awful day and your small gesture of kindness was a bright spot! —Thankful Stranger

Even if they don't see this, I just want to thank the amazing bosses that I work for. I’ve read so much hate about bosses around the city, especially from serving staff, and it makes me feel even more appreciative of the amazing work family and bosses I have. From making a very comfortable work environment, letting us know that we can be who we want and that they are there for us, to making us food at work when were feeling drained. I feel like they don't get the appreciation that they deserve all of the time, but trust me there are amazing bosses out there and I hope that some day everyone can experience a good workplace like I do. —Appreciative Cheesecake Server
