It's been four months since I moved away and I still miss Halifax every day. I miss the two dollar bin at Elsie's, drunk strangers shouting at each other at Pizza Corner, that group of men always smoking outside the Sal Army on Gottingen, getting the front seat on the upper floor of the ferry to Dartmouth, and pretty much every other small, wonderful detail that makes Halifax such a special place. —homesick Haligonian

To the finely-tuned fiddler that brightens the Market each weekend with his flawless playing. Thanks for your skill and your ceaseless, endearing smile; its as sweet as the treats I go to the market to seek. I must praise, also, the basey beau; good show good show! —Sweets and beats

I gotta say, the new bright white LED street lights are much more pleasing than those dingy reddish-white street lights that were all over the place. Not sure who to thank, but thanks —It Is About Time

Thank you to the badass group of girls who has been covering our city with “LOVE can still TRUMP HATE” posters. These small signs all over the city really show what it means to be a Haligonian and brightens my day every time I see one. These little things don't go unnoticed. —A Fellow Lover

Halifax is a bit of a backwater redneck town that tries to be a progressive city but often fails. So it is extremely gratifying to see cool people that are using their brains and acting in positive ways. I see them often as I'm taking long walks through town. All you good Haligonians who are making strong moves and improving your communities—keep up the good work. And to all of those who are not there yet, you can get there. I know you can. —Hipster Dufuss

To a certain local performer, who pulls out a parachute and confetti at every show: You made my Halloween so special this year. Your concerts are always full of such an incredible energy. It makes everyone feel so alive, and excited to be alive. You're hot as hell, and have such talent and the right attitude, that you bring the best out of Halifax. —Cathartically Cleansed Pearl Earring Gal

I'm putting this love out there cause I don't think there can ever be enough love. Last night I dreamt I was on a boat on the Seine as the sun came up. when I awoke in my own bed back home in Hali, I was sad I wasn't in Paris, but I was also ecstatic to be here. October is a magical month in Nova Scotia, full of art, wine, autumn colours, turkey, costumes, and so many wonderful people. I am so thankful that I have all of you in my life. Can't wait to charge through this school year. oxoxo —We are dreaming the same dreams—Marshmallow Unicorn

Almost didn't go into the Forum because it was $5, but the very upbeat lady at the table convinced us. I bought 13 records and am in love with the Halifax Record Fair!!! All b/c I saw the tiny ad in The Coast. This prairie girl at heart loves this city and its events. —Nostalgic middle aged K-Tel record lover
