A Haligonianâs first CHKN CHOP sandwich is akin to a rite of passage by this point. Seven years on since restaurateur Jenna Mooers opened the charcoal rotisserie chicken restaurant with Andrew Flood, sandwiches, brussels sprouts and mac ânâ cheese have been flying fast and furious out of the North Street kitchen. Itâs earned the north end barbecue joint a well-deserved rep for its deliciousâand generously portionedâdishes. (No surprise that CHKN CHOP has taken home three straight gold awards for Best BBQ.) And while each dish on the menu is a crowd-pleaser, the chicken sandwiches might be the showstopper. Mooers has a weakness for the Manitoba Honey Dill: Served with honey dill sauce, lettuce, dill pickles, pickled onions and fresh dill, itâs all kinds of tangyâand only available at select times of the year. âWhen itâs on, I have to get one,â she says.
