For 20 years, Dee Dee’s has been scooping out handmade ice cream and sorbet to hungry Haligonians. The Nora Bernard Street shop does it all, from banana cardamom to Mexican chocolate, using local ingredients to boot. And in two decades, the recipes haven’t changed. Well, for the most part. This year’s BOH gold is the second in a row for new owners Jenna Mooers and Lindsay MacPhee, who took over for founder Ditta Kasdan in 2022 and have kept the north end ice creamery as popular as ever. “We came in really not wanting to change much,” Mooers tells The Coast. “I think the only thing that we changed right away was that we started taking Visa cards.”
