Best Pizza Pie

Sal Mosca, the head dough maker at Yeah Yeahs Pizza, is credited as the reason this New York-style slice shop continues to take the top spot for Best Pizza Pie in the city. This is Yeah Yeahs’ fourth year in a row winning gold for Best Pie, and co-owner Josh Nordin is quick to shout out dough-wizard Sal. 

“He’s the heart and soul of both shops.” Nordin told The Coast in 2022. “He’s been with us before we even opened [in Dartmouth seven] years ago and he is just the best guy.” 

Late last year, Yeah Yeahs closed up its downtown Halifax location and opened a new venture on Oxford Street with 2 Crows Brewing Co. It’s been a hit, says Nordin. 

“It got us back to what we know and are good at, which is [being] that neighbourhood pizza joint,” he adds. “It’s what I like. I hang out in small neighbourhoods, and it makes more sense for us to exist in the west end than it ever did downtown. And we’ve been met with such really great support.”
