Would you believe us if we told you that Plaskett has never won a BOH gold for Best Folk Artist until now? A perennial winner of the Best Songwriter category, the 49-year-old picks up his first honour in the Folk category on the heels of his stellar album, One Real Reveal.Â
Plaskettâs pen has sharpened over the years, whether writing folksy, Dylan-esque tunes about guests who overstay their welcome (âRainy Day Janeyâ) or spoken-word pieces about aging and self-discovery (âThe New Joysâ).
âItâs a quiet record, so Iâm hoping it will resonate with people who are in that headspace,â said Plaskett of One Real Reveal. âI love playing rock and roll and I got some of those shows for the summer on the horizon, and other material cooking on the back burner for things down the line, but this record is kind of folksy in minimal ways. Itâs sort of what feels right for me at this kind of junction.â
