How about this for fixing public sector compensation:
-Scrap the current MLA pension plan and give them a defined contribution plan. If they're fans of the private sector lets give them a private sector type of pension plan.
-Scrap the teacher's grid and only give increments for seniority. Let them be reimbursed for courses taken and books bought and give them an 'education training dividend' of $750 for every course successfully completed with a cap for the overall number of courses reimbursed over a teacher's career.
-Scrap the current long service award for public sector workers and replace it with a "long term worker dividend" of $365 for every year worked
-Have an informal agreement that unless there is a recession that public sector workers will get at least a half percent raise every year in their wages and a maximum of one and a half percent depending on what the level of inflation is. —Mr. Fix It

According to NS budget documents the real GDP in the province is going to increase each year between 0.8 percent and 0.9 percent from 2015 to 2018. If the economy grew the government should be able to give the workers a raise. Why not three quarters of a percent each year for public sector workers for the four years. At the end of the contract switch to a different more affordable formula for the long service award.

With the science surrounding the use of lead bullets and hunting, why the fuck are we still allowed to buy and use them in our province/country? When hunters kill an animal, they leave the carcass for the wildlife to devour, leaving shreds of the lead bullet for the animals to consume, leaving eagles and other small creatures to die a slow, painful death from lead poisoning.

We can stop this, it's too fucking easy. We have a responsibility to protect that which cannot protect itself, period, end of story. What are we waiting for? Do we make lead bullets in N.S.? Does our economy somehow rely on the sale of lead bullets? What is the fucking problem here? The house is in session, laws are being made, what's the problem? We pay our politicians well because they have to make the tough decisions, right? Then why after decades of knowing this are we still waiting for decision to be made?

As far as I'm concerned, we should have an amnesty period where the government buys back lead bullets at a ratio of 2 for 1, and after that, if you are caught hunting with them, you lose your guns, your vehicle, your house, everything. Period!!! There is no excuse for this harmful practice, we know better and we have a responsibility to change our ways. —Poprah

What was with all the fluffy questions?! He had Dallaire on hand for the obvious hard questions on PTSD and the Desmond murder-suicide! Instead inarticulate, vapid questions from yokels. That Abraham Lincoln dude who asked who the real Justin Trudeau was reading from a recipe card. FFS! I guess it didn’t matter anyway. He never really did give a satisfying answer. —Disappointed

In my almost 30 years born and raised in Halifax as a mixed race Canadian, I am not unfamiliar to misconceptions about my heritage. However, in a disagreement over a parking spot (which I acquired), I was the recipient of profanity and racial slurs in front of my wife and two-year-old. I was deeply saddened that not only is racism still a problem, but that there are those who think that it and profanity are acceptable in the presence of a child. I admit that I lost my composure and yelled at you, only escalating the situation; and for that I apologize. —A mixed race parent of a mixed race child

A neck injury that prevents you from sitting down normally sucks. Having a quiet tea interrupted by a cafe employee reiterating the policy that feet must be on the floor at all times, despite attempting to explain the ailment, sucked all the pleasure from that teabag. It bothers me when I see people posting online or making comments about how, if you want your life to be better, then get a better education. Do you know how hard that is? I have a full-time job that pays decently well, but it's not my passion, it's a drag to go to every day, and there is little opportunity for upward mobility. I don't want to be stuck in this shit sandwich for the rest of my life so I decided to go back to school part-time while continuing to work. I figured that since I'm single with no kids that this was the best time to do it. Well holy fuck nugget am I broke! The program I'm in is two straight years, no breaks, so every three months I have to pay $2,500 in tuition, plus books and supplies. I was able to secure a small line of credit, but I didn't quality for a Student Loan. The reality is, if I don't take every single penny I have left over after my bills and put it on my line of credit as I go, I'll run out of room on my line of credit and have to quit school half-way through. This shit is HARD and I'm one of the lucky ones that has a decent job and none of the extraneous expenses (ex: child care, car payment) to worry about. I can't imagine trying to do this on minimum wage; I'm not even sure if it would be possible. So keep that in mind the next time you think about harping on somebody who is stuck in the vicious rut of wanting to improve their life, but not having the means to do so. —All Bills, No Thrills

I get it that the Man is keeping you down and might be a bit racist too. But if you're not breaking the law then showing the officer your ID and saying what you're up to is a public service. 1,200 people got street checked in 2016, it would only cost $60,000 dollars to pay out the money.

I (a fucking white male) got street checked when I was 17 or so, sitting in a suburban cul-de-sac in a shitty Honda Civic late at night alone—really what's the big deal? —Stop trying to make everything about racism, or it will be

So we get it.... You own a dog and you like to take several pictures of your dog. Your Facebook profile is basically entirely dedicated to either your dog or canine related matter to the point where your own identity has been lost. You make no bones about the fact that you have no life outside of your dog and you are proud of that. As if our news feeds haven't been bombarded enough by your nonsense, you are now blessing us with a daily picture of your mutt with a hashtag that indicates this will continue for the rest of the year. You don't even have true maternal attachment to blame it on.. okay maybe I could cut you some slack if you carried the creature for 9 months and it expelled from your body. Actually, come to think of it, the parents (of humans) I have on Facebook behave much more modestly... and that is saying something because some of them are obnoxious! At least kids change their looks so if I have to be subjected to my friends' sorry offspring I can at least pretend to like some kind of progress or milestone. Your dog isn't a puppy though so what do you have to offer? A creative angle of her butt or a trillionth picture of her salivating? News flash: it's not cute or artistic. You know what is beautiful though? The unfollow button. —The Dawg Unfollower

You know what's irritating? When people with medical issues are told by random assholes that OMG ALL THEIR AILMENTS WILL BE FIXED IF THEY JUST EAT A FUCKING APPLE or take a walk in the woods. No, cancer isn't going to go away after eating some fucking fruit and vegetables, and that depressed guy over there isn't going to "snap out of it" after taking a fucking walk in the goddamned woods. Get over yourselves.

And stop using the term "big pharma." You sound like morons when you do. –Chronically Ill
