I typically enjoy the Bitch section of The Coast as it provides a little peek into the concerns, values and morals of citizens of HRM. The original bitch and the comments that follow provide this insight and are often entertaining as much as they are educational. What baffles me is the inconsistent moderation of posts and comments despite them not being in violation of any of the "rules of the bitch" It makes me feel that the true representation of the options of people of HRM are being censored. I respectfully request that The Coast either revise the "rules of the Bitch" or refrain from arbitrarily and inconsistently removing posts and comments. —FreeSpeechPlease

I'm going to say this, because its relevant and meaningful. A woman has a right to stand up for herself, at all times. Trying to make a living should not stand in the way of achieving this very desire. Being an independent and opinionated woman in any context is not wrong. Standing up against misogyny and white privileged attitudes in any context, is not to be censored or mediated by some absolute form or righteousness. Since when does being part of an institution mean that you need to subject yourself to belittlement, prejudice, degrading behavior and silent pain hidden behind a veil of " professional and standard conduct " ? I think there is something to be said about what " professionalism " entails, and how much a woman is supposed to swallow silently, before a line is drawn. There is nothing progressive about repressing your feelings, repressing your right to an opinion, and repressing your need for self respect in the form of you, standing up for yourself. The most obvious truth is that humans are individuals, and women are very much so a part of this equation. Seems ridiculous to standardize the behavior of such a vast array of people, in the name of Capitalism and preserving archaic systematic delivery of silent misery. There is nothing standard about humans. There is nothing beautiful about Capitalism, and there is nothing progressive about treating other people like shit for being individuals who desire self respect. That's my 2 cents. As a woman living in Nova Scotia, I am very disappointed that I cannot seem to find a way to be able to stand up for myself, and not have to worry about preserving employment. I personally think that this is because of gender related issues, and I think we all, as women, should be concerned about this, and should voice our options and thoughts on the matter. My 17-year-old daughter works at the movie theatres. She came home from a very busy night on Tuesday (cheap night), and proceeded to tell me about an incident that makes me both sad and enraged at the abuse endured by those who work in the service industry. As she was frantically making pretzels to keep up with the orders, she noticed an older man that she described as having "walked off the set of Duck Dynasty" becoming agitated. She informed him his pretzel would be ready any minute and he then went off on her, cursing and yelling that his frozen yogurt was melting because he was waiting so long. He then proceeded to wind up and throw his frozen yogurt IN HER FACE! As she stood there covered in this douchebag's melty yogurt, he turned around and left the theatres so there were no repercussions other than making my daughter feel like a piece of shit. I grew up in Halifax and always loved the Saturday market at the brewery. After six years of living away I have moved back. I was really looking forward to shopping at the market again but after making a stop there this past Saturday I have decided I will likely not go back. What the fuck is with all the "musicians" hanging around in the hallways screaming like alley cats in heat? I appreciate music while I shop, but I don't appreciate migraine inducing noise. I would've rather stuck a hot curling iron in my ear and opened it. Some of these "musicians" should take their hobby elsewhere (hopefully somewhere far away, like the desert) and let people shop without having to pop a fucking advil —Saul
