Where does the author of this article from the current edition of "The Coast" think that the money comes from to operate things like the branded EMERA Oval?? From EMERA! This facility didn't miraculously appear out of Peter Kelly's ass...it was funded by TAX Payers and Emera and the operating costs are partially covered by Emera's sponsorship. Would he prefer the users have to pay to skate on it, or that we raise taxes to pay those bills? Dude, shit costs money....I would love to see better seats in the metro centre, but I don't want to have to pay for them, and if Scotia Bank wants to throw 6.5 $Million all in return for putting their name on the building....how is that NOT a good thing? The alternative is HIGHER ticket costs....seriously? —Curtis

I have been delivering pizzas for about 4 months now- it's fun and I enjoy it. But I am blown away by the number of people in our fair city who DON"T tip for their delivery. What the hell! You can drop 20, 30, even 40 bucks on one meal, but you're too broke to give your driver even a quarter or 2? I'm looking at you, university residences. Look, food drivers rely on their tips: we usually only get minimum wage (sometimes less), and with that we need to buy gas and pay for the upkeep of our vehicles, plus pay all those other wonderful bills that go along with modern life. We appreciate that sometimes you might be low on funds- most people know what that's like. But seriously though: it's really not meant to be a choice. Unless your food is late, or cold (it's not), or I'm somehow rude to you (I am never), tipping for food delivery is pretty much expected. If you're that low on funds, throw us 25 or 50 cents: it's better than nothing, and it all adds up, and won't make us feel like making you wait longer next time. And to the people that do tip, i.e. most people that understand how this is supposed to work: thank you! Food delivery drivers bust their humps to get people all over this city their food hot and fast, and we truly do appreciate every penny. —Jay Lar

Dear politically-correct titled person-who-attends-to- your-needs-whilst-on-an-airline-flight from flight 417,
How horrible it must be to have your job. I mean, with every leg of the flight, you experience delays. These delays result in unhappy passengers-me being one.Calling me "Hon" and "Sweetie" wasn't working to quell my unhappiness so you begin making threats to remove me from the plane - empty threats; I was simply expressing my displeasure.
I paid extra for a seat with extra legroom only to learn my luggage wouldn't fit in the overhead compartment. Puzzled, Iquestioned you about the logic of baggage meeting restrictions yet the overhead compartments not meeting luggage requirements. When your solution was to use the space under the seat resulted in a complaint, rather than affirming my frustrations, you then chose to express your own frustrations - to me?!
How sad to have to be subservient to others travelling to and from fun and interesting destinations and not being able to enjoy them. Oh wait! You're PAID to do this job. You CHOSE to do this work. Silly me! Well dear, I'm almost home while you're still having to deal with cranky people. I win! BTW, bad haircut. —2B

To the person in the white truck who laid on the horn at a woman in blue walking down Main Ave at 9:50 Wednesday morning;
Yes, I was walking on the road, leaving you only ten feet of the twelve foot wide lane on which to drive your six foot wide truck. Sorry. In my defense, there is no sidewalk on that side of the street. There is a grassy slope which is currently covered with lumpy uneven ice. If I attempted to walk there, I would probably slip and fall into the path of traffic. Unfortunately, the bus stop I needed to get to is on that side of the street. So, my options were to cross at the crosswalk and walk for half a block on the side of the road, or stay on the sidewalk and cross a busy street in the middle of the block. Both are unsafe, and both are guaranteed to piss off impatient motorists like your good self. Please notice that I have refrained from telling you to go fuck yourself. That's because I realize that you have no idea this situation exists, not just on Main Ave. but in many areas throughout the city. Now you do. Consider this a public service announcement. —The Voice of Reason

Took my car in for routine maintenance to a place off Kempt Rd on Tuesday morning. As I walked in to the customer service area to drop off my keys a large dog stood up, wagging his tail, to greet me. I guess he knocked over the coffee travel mug of his owner, who was sitting on one of the chairs. Her coffee spilled all over the end table, drenching brochures, magazines and the desk phone belonging to the business. She did nothing except pick up her mug and return it to the upright position while continuing her cell phone conversation. The coffee started to drip on the floor, milady continued her conversation and a man came from the side with a wad of paper towels and started to mop up the mess around the desk phone. He spoke gently to the dog, called him 'buddy' so I assumed he was also the dog's owner and the woman's partner. At one point she cut her eyes towards him and muttered 'thanks'. When he finished and walked around behind the counter and asked if I had already been taken care of, I realized he was the auto shop staff.
She was still on the phone when I left. A small example of self absorption that erodes, bit by tiny bit, the manners that keep society functioning above mayhem. Not sure if I should have spoken; she wasn't actively harming anyone. (her call did not involve hospitals, imminent death of loved one or a hostage situation) I have and will continue to speak out when I see harm being done but this? Should we or shouldn't we?

If I read the expression "have hate sex with" one more time, I am going to bust out with a barrage of profanity that would get me barred from 4chan. Hate fuck. They said they wanted to HATE FUCK some women. Yes, it is a shocking, hateful, violent term. It is also WHAT THEY SAID. It was an expression of violence uttered by hateful people and we bloody well need to be shocked by it. Who benefits from making what they said seem less shocking than it actually was? Who is the sugarcoating for? If people are to be held accountable for their words then let them be held accountable for the words they actually used. Those words were hate fuck. —I want to sign my real name but the Coast won't let me.

My father, who is now almost 78 years old, has an apartment across the street. Every year I politely ask the owner, who plows himself, to stop piling his snow across the street from his building right next to my fathers driveway. So, when ever the city plow goes by, all the snow from the apartment across the street goes into his driveway. Today, when i went over to shovel him out, there it was again. This time it was piled on the road 6 inches from my dads driveway. Apparently my father went out to ask him not to do this, and he yelled at my father that he can do whatever he wants. When I talked to another neighbor, he told me that because my father asked him to stop, it just makes him put the snow closer and closer. He told me because this asshole has lots of money, he looks down on the little people. I have informed my father to let me know as soon he shows up next time it snows.....why do people have to be such assholes? Lets make the 78 year old man shovel snow til he takes a heart attack....that will teach him. —getting tired of it.

The reviewers concluded that veterans were not very successful in meeting their employment goals. Furthermore, the financial benefits available to injured veterans “may be deterring veterans from actively participating in the vocational aspects of the program and the labour force.”
