I never had a chance to properly say thank you to all of the doctors, nurses and staff at the hospital: I was tired and scared and you made me feel safe. I was stressed out from needing emergency surgery a few weeks back. You were kind, friendly, patient and warm. You clearly love what you do and you do it exceptionally well. After surgery, I woke up fine, but broken-hearted that I couldn't give a proper thank you. I hope this reaches you all.

Shout out to the woman who, while driving on the Bedford highway Wednesday morning around 8:20am, saw me running to my bus stop and asked if I was going downtown and offered me a drive. I so appreciate the offer as it seemed so genuine and kind. I wanted to say yes, but my instinct to not accept drives from a stranger kicked in and I declined. But, I hope you see this post and know I am thankful for your kindness and generosity this morning.

Wanted to send a warm-and-fuzzy this week to my local skateboard shop. I was inclined to write this before, but my latest call-in decided it. Thanks for bringing back the love, good tips and buzz to the shop. And to think I was about to boycott you!

HUGE thanks to the kind folks who helped me when I fell off my bike and got a concussion last Tuesday by Coburg Road. Y'all helped me up, called the ambulance and got my bike in a safe place while I was being taken care of. Also thanks to the kindest of EMTs: You two could not have made me feel more comfortable and not like a complete fool. I wish I could buy you all a cup of coffee!

Sending out future love to the Halifax cafe that stays open past 10pm for all us night owls. Because we need a habitat, too.
You will be appreciated

To the fine people of this city: I just want to say thanks to you for being so accepting of transgender people. Since I've started my transition, everyone I talk to about it has been fantastic. I've felt so supported, even by strangers. I currently still present male on a daily basis and nobody second guesses me when I tell them I'm trans, which I really appreciate. Probably the only bad experience I've had was when two gay males told me I was ruining my body.

I can still hear you knockin’, but the devil has no sympathy for me. You can’t always get what you want, but perhaps I got what I need? I can only hope that time is on my side, and one day we’ll get our satisfaction. I miss you. In the meantime, paint it black, heart.

...for the incredible 25 for 25 podcasts! I've been flying a lot this year and cannot tell you how much I appreciate their wit and wisdom. As a Coast reader from the very beginning, they've been a brilliant time capsule of the good, the bad and the ugly but I wouldn't trade living here for the world. Some have made me cry or laugh and not sure some of my Air Canada seatmates would agree but they are the best. What a great gift to all of us, thank you!

I obviously don’t believe in ownership over people, but I never thought I would fall for you so hard. Even though you didn’t pick up when I quoted “True Romance”, you mentioned it later without realizing and it made me laugh. Ugh, we are such dorks and this is super cute. I hope this lasts.
