I haven't heard your wicked tunes strolling down the street for a few weeks. I hope you're still in town because you're a great musician with very talented vocals. Hope you stroll your songs around the south end —Music Appreciator

Thank you to the gentleman at the Central Library on Saturday. We shared an elevator ride and you complimented my tattoos. And I proceeded to blather on nervously about them for the rest of the descent. What I SHOULD have said was thanks for brightening my day! And I was wrong, some of them do have meaning! —Inked Blatherer

Just wanted to send some love to my vet clinic for all you've done for me and my cat who recently passed away. When his battle with kidney failure was lost and the time came to put him down, you guys made everything as easy as possible. I had him just shy of 18 years, so it was very hard for me to lose him. You guys went above and beyond in so many ways, including sending me a really nice signed card and even surprising me with a clay imprint of one of his paws free of charge. When you showed up at my place for the fateful appointment, I could tell that it was difficult for you as well. I know you are all very caring and I realize that it must be a really hard part of your job to do that. Thank you again for everything you've done. Thank you for arranging for it to happen at home. I truly appreciate it all. —Missing J

And I will until my last breath. The biggest mistake I ever made was walking away from you that day. I'm working on things, an I'm sure the right path will present itself. I wish we could take every path, but I just think about the one that has to do with you. —A Czech

A huge thank you to the kind gentleman at the transmission company on Windmill who not only diagnosed my dead alternator and lent me a power source, he also drove my wonky van to the dealer while I followed in his vehicle. Exceptional service. Exceptional kindness. Gotta love the maritimes. —Damsel in distress

This town is not very bike friendly, but you are! Thank you for reassuring me that I wasn't doing anything wrong at the light that wouldn't change, and for letting me “piggy back” next to your car through the intersection. Many blessings to you! —Cyclist

After some confused messages and a rough start, I finally set out for the live streaming at Grand Parade. Donning my messenger bag of beer and a few 'smokes,' me and my company walked around a city filled with people going to-and-from the show, or bars in which every one of had the concert on. We made our way to the center of the crowd, trying to keep close to mainly adults as I sometimes forget kids are at rock concerts too, and don't like smoking around them. But very quickly it didn't matter—a few drinks in and I was swayin’ with the crowd, a sort of hippie-ish fumble as I couldn't dance my way out of a hat. It was truly a scene. The feeling of peace and a mutual adoration for the music. A sense of pride, for this is “Canada's Band,” and almost everyone has a Hip song that commands a “Shut up! I love this song!” or a “Turn that up!” The performance was awesome, the crowd, a sort of comforting sea of kindred souls, and roaming the streets almost traffic free was a perfect end to the evening. Nice job Halifax and CBC. And thank you to the Tragically Hip, for so many great songs. —New2Halifax

On Thursday afternoon at the public library, I overheard you speaking with security about being being called a "faggot," stating your rights and trying to explain how this was a hate crime. I wanted so badly to step in, stand with you and somehow express to you how deeply saddened I was to hear that had happened to you. I'm unsure if security was helpful to you, but I wanted you to know I respect how calmly and patiently you explained the situation. I'm still kicking myself, wishing I knew how to be a more helpful ally. I hope you see this and know you are incredible and you are loved. I am sorry for not doing more. —A sad and angry friend

You were a guy wearing a 49ers T-shirt and a SF Giants hat walking out of the NSLC on Agricola. I couldn't bring myself to bear hug you immediately but I wanted to. I told my wife about you immediately. I can't stop thinking about you. —Also a 49ers and SF Giants
