Beach Volleyball (FIVB) Junior World Championships

When: Aug. 31-Sept. 4, 12-6 p.m., Thu., Sept. 1, 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Fri., Sept. 2, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Sat., Sept. 3, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sun., Sept. 4, 12-5 p.m. 2011

A beach on the waterfront, complete with professional volleyball players. The parking lot at the bottom of Salter Street gets spiked for this international championship that welcomes teams from nearly 30 countries and 2,000 tonnes of sand. The medal rounds start on Sunday, with women’s gold at 2:30pm and mens at 3:45pm.
