Carbon Arc: Song of the Sea

Doors at 6:30. This animated film by Tomm Moore of Ireland was nominated for an Oscar. His other film, the Secret of Kells, was nominated for an Academy-Award. This story is based on “selkies,” said to be seals when in water and take human form on the land. Six year old Saoirse, who hasn’t spoken, and her brother Ben dwell in a lighthouse with their father. Finding her deceased mother’s shell flute, the music Saoirse releases a magic connected to her. For her to make use of it, Sadie must speak and Ben must find his courage.
