Collective Remembrance: Propaganda Posters from the Great War

During the First World War the biggest means of communication were the propaganda posters plastered everywhere the Canadian eye could see to foster nationalism and inspire soldier recruitment. Now see posters from Canada, Britain and the United States during the First World War that "allows viewers to explore the hopes, anxieties and motives that drove a generation that has passed from us." The exhibition features 27 posters—13 by Canadian artists, 10 by British artists, and four of American origin. There are also six posters from the Second World War. The exhibition benefits significantly from works from the collection of the Nova Scotia Archives, supplemented by works from Dalhousie Library Special Collections and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia’s Permanent Collection. Public Talk: Curator Dianne O’Neill, Sunday, November 9, 2014, 2:30pm.
