This lecture series features Dr. Jock Murray, who will discuss the ways in which medicine and art are connected. Coffee and snacks will be provided.
A neurologist, previous Dean of Medicine at Dalhousie University, Professor Emertius, and previous Professor of Medical Humanities, Dr. Murray specializes in multiple sclerosis. He has spoken numerous times on medical history, literature and art. He is in the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame and has been awarded both the Officer of the Order of Canada and the Officer of the Order of Nova Scotia.
Dr. Murray is to display several hundred examples of stained glass windows for this lecture, from places around the world in 11th century- Nova Scotia, the United States, Iceland, Australia, the Yukon and England. He will talk about what these windows represent to those who are sick, and how their connection to the church helped them to find answers in the stained glass. Regarding this showed them what created their ailments and what would heal them, and also provided them with a sense of gratitude.
