This lecture series features Dr. Jock Murray, who will discuss the ways in which medicine and art are connected. Coffee and snacks will be provided.
A neurologist, previous Dean of Medicine at Dalhousie University, Professor Emertius, and previous Professor of Medical Humanities, Dr. Murray specializes in multiple sclerosis. He has spoken numerous times on medical history, literature and art. He is in the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame and has been awarded both the Officer of the Order of Canada and the Officer of the Order of Nova Scotia.
Robert Pope created 96 art pieces that reflect his experience of Hodgkin’s Disease. Dr. Murray will speak on the ways in which art of this kind allows those in the health care profession to understand disease from the perspective of their patients.
