Double bill: Idiosyncrasies; Stoked and Broke

Idiosyncrasies: Before the off-shoring and mass manufacturing of surfboards, before surfing was a part of popular culture, surfers held a tradition of self reliance, a do-it-yourself ethic, and an unbridled sense of adventure. Idiosyncrasies is a homage to that old spirit which is still very much alive beneath the roar of consumer culture.

Stoked and Broke: In Cyrus Sutton's latest film, he and Ryan Burch build their own rickshaws and take off on a self-supported surf trip down the California Coast.
