The Doppler Effect Presents two great autobiographical shows. Heartwood is about battling mental illness and the stigma surrounding it, written and performed by poet/mental health activist Laura Burke. While Alien explores immigration, the search for “home” and living on the edge of a cultural gap, written and performed by playwright/actor Annie Valentina.
