Julie Beugin: And the green streets though parallel run far from each other
When: June 10-21 2014
Collages that the artist describes as "circumventing expected vistas and vanishing points with visual interruptions of overlapping forms, flat shapes and suggestive gestural marks that oscillate between surface and depth. With sections of imagery overpainted or physically collaged onto the surface, my paintings emerge from an ecosystem where the failure of one image generates material for another’s growth. As a result, the viewer is compelled to trace the process of making, linking my invented and impossible architectures to the perpetually unfolding strangeness of the present.”
