My Narrator/The Death of Me

Two Norm Foster one-acts deliver twice the fun at TAG. The first, My Narrator, is a sweet romantic comedy with a twist. Lacy (Angela Butler) is a struggling artist with poor taste in men. Miles (Rob McIntyre) is a bumbling but sweet loser. The two hardly seemed destined for a romantic future together until their own personal internal narrators—embodied by Ellen Oldford and Russell Storer—discover a mutual attraction. It’s a cute premise that really charms, particularly because of great comedic timing and chemistry among the four actors. The second play The Death of Me has another quirky twist: the main character John (Russell Storer, again) must bargain with the Angel of Death (Rayna Smith-Camp) for a brief reprise of life. To earn more hours on earth, the angel requires the mousy John to “make waves” by confronting his ex-girlfiend (an eerily intense Caroline Smith). It’s laugh-out-loud funny with a satisfying (if predictable) ending. —Kate Watson
