Mariette Roodenburg delivers a collection of photos capturing the surface of the ocean, presented in carefully selected pairs. Intentional camera movement, multiple exposures and blending techniques render the images re-imagined. Roodenburg's artist's statement says her process is "not unlike applying many layers of translucent oil paint" before quoting Moby Dick, saying her sea-sprayed scenes are places "not down on any map; true places never are.”
