Sexy Laundry

I imagine with two less capable actors, Sexy Laundry would be the kind of comedy that’s good for a few laughs but easily forgotten. However, in the hands of Sherry Smith and William Vickers this play reveals some real truths about the bumps along the road of a long-term relationship. The set up goes like this: Life and time have put distance between middle-aged Alice and Henry, and Alice decides to remedy this with a get-away weekend and sexual self-help manual. Much laughter ensues from the couple’s discomfort as they attempt the suggested exercises such as naming each other's nether bits and revealing their sexual fantasies. The play becomes memorable and even moving when Alice is forced to admit that her feelings of dissatisfaction run deeper than wanting more spice in the bedroom. Just a warning for everyone 40 and up---it may not be easy to see yourself up on stage, but it will make you laugh and reflect. –Kate Watson
