Straw Bale Projects

Kim Thompson has more than 20 years of experience working with natural building systems. Her work focuses on energy efficient, healthy and affordable building options including clay-based wall finishes, straw bale and earth construction. In 2007 she founded a non-profit called Hands-On Projects, Etc. that brings together art, community development and natural building. Thompson is currently working with the Ecology Action Centre on adaptive reuse and building materials analysis. She is a sessional instructor at the Dalhousie School of Architecture and a founding member of the Big Picture Building Collective, a registered co-op of builders, architects, engineers, tradespeople.
