The Impoverishment of Ethical Consciousness

Alberto Manguel delivers this Canadian Centre for Ethics in Public Affairs talk, saying "we are a social species and we must learn the rules and conventions of society in order to both obey and contest them. We do this through language, imagining, and receiving stories that tell of our experiences. Enmeshed in these stories are ethical codes which we best learn, through the dream lives of the characters of fiction."
