Women, Contemporary Aboriginal Issues, and Resistance
When: Tue., Oct. 15, 4:15 p.m. 2013
As part of Mi’kmaq Awareness Month, a new learning kit will help to shed light on what it’s like to grow up Aboriginal, and what other young Canadians learn about indigenous peoples. Combining visual art, storytelling and songs, the kit showcases the lives of fictional children as they grow into young adulthood, quickly becoming aware of the roles that prejudice, Aboriginal roots, and friendship will play throughout their lives. Welcome at the Aboriginal Student Centre (46 Melody Drive) followed by a reception at the MSVU Art Gallery (Seton Academic Centre, Ground floor) at 5:15pm.
