I love my summer job. I teach swimming lessons at an outdoor pool and every day I love going to work because my kids honestly warm my heart. Thank you to all the parents who sign up their darling children for swimming. You have made my summer!

Just wanted to thank the ladies at a certain bookstore -- I was one of the many many applicants you interviewed this week for the full time position, and it was great to sit down with you & chat about books. While I was really disappointed to get that phone call this morning and not get hired, you were really sweet about it on the phone, and somehow not getting hired still felt encouraging. Promoting internally makes total sense, and your compliments made me feel okay about still being unemployed (like so many other young people in this city)...

I don't feel rejected or embittered at all (which I usually do when I don't get hired someplace I was all optimistic about)-- I wish all interviewers were like you! I'll continue to shop in your store, no awkwardness. But seriously though, if things don't work out... you have my resume. And the memories. <3

Thanks for stopping for me after leaving the official bus stop at Penhorn terminal. You took off away from the shelter and you were about to pull out and continue down Portland st. I was running but I assumed it was too late. But you stopped at the stop sign and let me on. I was then able to make my connection at the bridge terminal and get home. Not all metro transit drivers are douches!

Gotta love that there is so much construction in parts of the south end that it is now a rarity to hear the thumping of loud music from cars.

Although I don't like all the construction, I am loving not hearing beyonce or little whatever blasting at 2am from a stereo stopped at the lights.

Wednesday was a busy day for me, from meetings to grocery shopping to doctor’s appointments for my five children. While doing some rushed banking in the middle of the day, I accidentally left $60 inside the banking machine. By the time I realized this, forty-five minutes later, I figured it would be too late. I returned to the bank as quickly as I could, but the cash was nowhere to be found. I considered it lost, but it was my lucky day a few moments later when my phone rang. John, a kind-hearted stranger, had selflessly returned my money. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Smith for proving that there are still honest and trustworthy people in this world.

Just a quick thanks and some good Karma to those at the Tall Ships 'vendor' lot. You know who you are. To the boys from the Pogue, thank you for the laughs and burgers, saved me from starving. To the gentleman who got me coffee every morning -- hugs, and to my buddy from Captain's Catch, it might not have been a pretty chair, but it worked! Also thanks for the water and yummy chicken salad sandiwiches from the Tall Ship volunteer driver. It was nice to be taken care of on those long 12 hr shifts. Also a HUGE shout out to Judy Ferguson and all of her volunteers at the heli-pad closing ceremony/parade of sail party who helped when I had heat stroke.

To the repliers of "Why no nice people exist" I thank you whole heartedly, your words gave me a bit of hope and strength. If a bunch of strangers can relate to my plight and unanimously suggest I redirect my kindness, it means worlds to me. So thank you for being kind! I suppose I can be the selective nice guy, go for the gray, life doesn't have to be black and white, nice and not nice. I feel better now. If I could id buy you all drinks :D

To all you friends visiting from away... THANK YOU!
You know I'm broke - but I'm fun. Thanks for making summer in Halifax (and other spots in NS) as good as it was when you all lived here.
