Thank you for letting me pet your tiny dog while you ordered coffee...just because I said I was sad. Thank you for asking why I was sad. I was unprepared for my own outburst of crying as I said "my best friend just died." Her death was a long time coming (cancer), I just hadn't said it aloud yet and was trying to be tough. Thank you for hugging me tightly. Thank you for saying I would be in your heart. Thank you for being there when I didn't know I needed someone. And thank you for showing me people like you still exist in the world. I'll try and meet your example and be the angel for others, I'll just look less cool doing it. XOX. —Redhead Crying In Coffee

My boyfriend and I are broker than we've ever been right now. It is exciting but stressful. We both have well-paying jobs, though things like paperwork and injury have made February and March intensely dry financially. I'm doing everything right on paper and still getting nowhere. I've been selling my things to make a few bucks, and my parents can't even help me anymore. I've bled them dry with my inadequate adulting skills. Welcome to the real world, right? So...When the boyfriend and I found two candy bars in a garden between two busy north end streets, it was a like a sign. The proverbial burning bush, in the form of crispy chocolate-coated candy, that told us, “keep believing in the good.” I hope whoever put them there (they were displayed so nicely) meant for someone to take them (we waited 30 minutes and came back, just in case) and gets this thank you! I've never enjoyed candy more. You have no idea how much impact something so inexpensive has made on these two hearts. —Faith Restored

Thank you to the considerate and generous person who came out in the cold to the Dartmouth Crossing Cineplex to give away soon-to-be-expired coupons for two movie passes, a popcorn, and two drinks.  I could see myself in your situation thinking, "I should give these away."  But I wouldn't have managed to actually do it, and you did. Your generosity filled our night with magic and synchronicity. Thank you. —Gratefully Yours

To the female bus driver of the #1: You greeted each passenger as they got on and made small talk with everyone while you had a great big smile on your face, and that was just lovely! Thank you so much for being so chipper and keeping a happy face even while you’re driving in such terrible conditions. Today was such a dreary day, but you managed to brighten it up for me. I wish all bus drivers were like you! I hope keep that bright smile and great attitude all day/week/year. —The Girl With The Bright-coloured Hat

Thanks, man. I feel like everyone's been a crazy person on the roads since the snow hit, making anxiety-fuelled lane changes, driving at wildly inappropriate speeds and the like. But this morning I was pretty sure you had arrived at the two-lane drive thru at Robie and Young before me, so I let you go ahead. Then when I got to the window she said you paid for my coffee, and I've had a nice feeling ever since. First of all, I love and really needed a coffee. Also, cash has been pretty tight lately and even something small makes a difference. Thanks, stranger. —The Girl In The White Elantra

A Friday meal at a restaurant in the Hydrostone. For Brenda and I a pleasant date, the best fish and chips in town and superb staff. To end our meal, a wonderful surprise…a young man unbeknownst to us, newly introduced to the restaurant’s great food, paid for his meal and OURS! The gesture was unknown to us unfortunately, revealed only after the young man’s departure. This gesture has overwhelmed us, the generosity greatly appreciated.

To the young man, a stranger he’ll remain, will never have the chance to receive our most sincere thanks. Merci, merci, merci! —Two Thankful People

To the patient, genuine human who works at the fragrance/cosmetics counter at a north-end pharmacy: You helped me. While I am only one day into trying new treatments, the fact that you were inquisitive and patient with me helped make me feel a little better. I'm not sure where these enormous, painful, under-the-skin cysts are coming from, but your confidence in your job and your patience to weigh out options with me made me feel cared for. You are amazing at what you do, and your commitment to helping people feel better about themselves shows. Thank you. —Pimple Patty

Shoutout to the guy waiting at a red light with the windows down and singing with full voice and body to AC/DC, then taking a smoke break during the guitar solo. Thanks for the moment! —Patio Customer

I was walking on a busy street and almost fell into traffic. I would have been run over by a car had it not been for a freakishly tall bald man with haunting blue eyes who appeared out of no where who just swooped me up like a ninja. I said thank you he replied, "Whatever, just trust in God," put his ear phones back in and walked back into the crowd.
