Shoutout to the guy chilling on his balcony patio on Windsor Street near the Cunard intersection on Monday night. With your glass of wine and Tragically Hip tunes blaring, it's clear you have great taste in life. Keep it up. —Cheers

You tried to ruin our fun because of your arbitrary vendetta; but your petty villainy just brought us all together. Hope your night was as fun as ours! —Neighbourly Love

To the owner of Tiny, I can't thank you enough for being patient as I almost had an emotional meltdown on the street at the site of your little dog. Ours passed away a few days ago and running into you and your identical dog felt like fate. The matching stories of a hard beginning followed by a rescue of these 16-year-old poodles make me wonder if I met our little guy's brother. Hoping to run into you two again someday. —Appreciative on Almon

Thank you to the fire marshal who evacuated my daughter's daycare when there was a gas leak at a construction site near by. Thank you daycare staff for getting every single child to a safe place. Thank you Bell/Aliant building for being the place they went. Thank you St. Matthew's Church/Circus School for taking in the children until parents could be reached and could come get their kids. Thank you again daycare staff for keeping the kids safe and happy and untroubled. Thank you even more daycare staff for keeping your cool, for showing our kids that crazy things happen and that's OK because we, together, are OK. Thank you daycare staff for loving our kids day after day, not just in emergencies but in the monotony of routine where the weeks pass and yet every day is a gift. Thank you Village for helping me raise my kid. She'll pay it forward. —Happy Happy Mama

A whole hearted big love embrace to whomever kept making a hole in the fence when it was chain link and who courteously just moves a section of the new one. We love you mystery fence remover and we suspect we aren't the only ones! —a thankful neighbour

To the Asian breakdancer at the Quinpool/Oxford bus stop on Friday listening to your music on your headphones having your own breakdance party: YOU KEEP DOING YOU! —I wanted to take snapchat so bad.

Thank you to the people on Morris Street who have their teddy bears set up in the window with Monopoly money in their paws. Seeing them playing Monopoly on my way to work and then on my way home makes my day so much better. I'm temporarily stuck at a job I hate, but they make me smile on the walk to and from, so thank you! —Pass go and collect $200

The other day one of those people who walk around handing out pamphlets about God came into my church and handed me one of his conversion cards. Naturally, I was incredibly insulted and angry that someone would come into my place of worship and try to actively convert me, and I gave him a piece of my mind. I figured that was the end of it, but then the next day he came in again and apologized and explained himself and said that I was right to feel disrespected for it. I appreciated that apology so much. Religion is supposed to be about universal tolerance, not active evangelizing, and I'm very happy that he came through and understood that. Thank you for taking the time to come in and apologize and thank you for understanding what the point of religion really is. —Currently Loving My Neighbor

To the two beautiful women walking two rather incorrigible dogs up and down Preston street: Halifax is a port city, and you're the anchor. Coming home to you girls is like coming up to breathe. It's an in-between time, but you both have beautiful things in the future—and you bring love into my present every single day. Thank you, thank you, thank you to my lighthouses on land and at sea. —"Lucifer"
